A plastic bottle with unknown contents, two unconscious students, several young people with symptoms of poisoning: A mysterious incident at a secondary school in Essen puzzles the police.

In the case of several allegedly poisoned students at a secondary school in Essen, the North Rhine-Westphalian State Criminal Police Office is now also involved in the investigation.

In particular, the LKA experts should determine what substance a plastic bottle found in the schoolyard was filled with.

This is reported by the »Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung«.

At the secondary school in Überruhr, during a break in the courtyard in mid-June, a student with circulatory problems first reported and was taken to the hospital by the ambulance service.

About an hour later there was another alarm: four other young people between the ages of 12 and 14 also complained of circulatory problems, two had even become unconscious for a short time.

In addition, three other children had complained of problems.

They were picked up by their parents, it said.

According to the investigation, the young people are said to have all drunk from a 1.5-liter plastic bottle seized in the schoolyard.

The contents of these had already been examined by the Essen fire brigade and by an analytical task force from the Dortmund fire brigade - initially without any indication of toxins, reports the "WAZ".

Now the LKA will take a closer look at the bottle and possible residues, an LKA spokesman confirmed to SPIEGEL.

The investigations would continue to be conducted by the Essen police.
