Six years after her last solo album, Beyoncé has already given the first hint of the sound of her new album.

Break

My Soul

is the advance that the artist has chosen to present

Renaissance,

a song that combines elements of rap and

house music,

and where the singer once again exhibits her vocal range, accompanied by a minimalist base.

For this single, Beyoncé returns to work with two trusted producers and with whom she has created one of her most famous hits,

Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)

, which in 2010 won the Grammy for song of the year.

Beyoncé announces 'Renaissance', new album six years later

They are Terius

The Dream

Nash and Christopher

Tricky

Stewart, creators of

Umbrella,

Rihanna, and

Baby

, one of Justin Bieber's first hits.

In their first work with Beyoncé,

Single Ladies,

the trio introduced Sasha Fierce, the singer's

alter ego

, more aggressive and more energetic on stage.

Then they achieved success with a song that spoke of the empowerment of women, that celebrated her singleness in the face of the unwillingness of men to commit.

In this new song, the figure of Beyoncé is also reinforced, in this case as an ambitious artist.

In

Break My Soul,

the Texan talks about the desire to do great things and accept challenges, about motivation and about her feelings in this new stage.

Throughout the verses, the artist shows the evolution of a Beyoncé who suffered levels of stress that did not let her sleep —

Work by nine, then off past five / And they work my nerves, that's why I cannot sleep at night

(Work at nine, and then go out after five / And my nerves work, that's why I can't sleep at night)—, to another who feels happy, comfortable and liberated, with a path set in front —

Got motivation / I done found me a new foundation / And I'm takin' my new salvation / And I'ma build my own foundation

(I have motivation / I have found a new foundation / And I'm taking my new salvation / And I'm going to build my own foundations).

The singer makes it clear what her mantra is in this renewed stage:

You won't break my soul

.

For the base of the song, a sample is used

—a

sample or clipping— from

Show Me Love

, by Robin S., one of the

house

classics that turns three decades old next year.

Also included are some verses from

Explode

(2014), by the rapper Big Freedia, which are in tune with the message that Beyoncé wants to convey:

Release ya stress / Release the love / Forget the rest

(Release stress / Release love / Forget the rest).

Despite the fact that Beyoncé has not released a solo album for six years —since

Lemonade

(2016)—, the 40-year-old artist has continued to be present in the music industry, working on other projects of a not so personal nature;

which may explain Beyoncé's exhaustion at the lack of her own challenges, and her motivation for this new album.

Renaissance

will be divided into acts, and the first, which will have 16 songs,

It will arrive on July 29.

During these years, the Texan has published

The Carters

(2018), an album of hers with her husband, the rapper Jay-Z;

she has been responsible for the soundtrack of

The Lion King

(2019) and the title song for the film

The Williams Method

(2021).

Now is Beyoncé's time to shine solo again.
