(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 22 - A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit southeastern Afghanistan: the shock, according to the US Geophysical Institute (Usgs), was recorded 44 km southwest of Khost, near the border with Pakistan.
The hypocenter was located at a depth of 10km.
The provisional death toll is at least 250: a local government official told the BBC, stressing that there are over 150 injured.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reports that the earthquake was felt in a radius of over 500 km, not only in Afghanistan and Pakistan but also in India.
