Patient found verified for monkey pox:
A patient in his 20s arrived at the emergency room at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem last night (Tuesday) with typical blisters that appeared on his body and fever, after an examination he was diagnosed with monkey pox.
The test was performed in the virology laboratory headed by Prof. Dana Wolf and was found to be positive.
The sample was also transferred to the Biological Institute in Ness Ziona for examination, as required.
At the hospital, the patient was released for home isolation until he recovered, when he was in good general condition and delivered to the Ministry of Health as usual, according to the hospital announcement.
As stated, this is the second case of infection with monkey pox in a person who has not returned from abroad and the 13th case in total to be discovered in Israel.
Dr. Jonathan Oster, director of the Hadassah Infection Control Unit, said that "although outbreaks in Africa in the past have described severe morbidity and even mortality in one percent of cases, in the current outbreak - as observed so far, the disease is mild and local."
