The Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where a teenager murdered 19 children and two teachers, is to be demolished.
The mayor of the city announced this.
"There's no way you can ask a child or a teacher to go back to this school," Don McLaughlin told Uvalde City Council on Tuesday.
There is no timetable for the demolition of the elementary school.

Police Error in Texas School Massacre: "One hour, 14 minutes and eight seconds" to rescue
Shortly before, there had been sharp criticism of the actions of the security authorities during the massacre at the end of May in a hearing by the Texas Senate.
Stephen McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), spoke of a "pathetic failure" by the emergency services.
The responsible officer on site put the life of his officers above that of the children.
»Contrary to everything we have learned«
"There is compelling evidence that the law enforcement response to the Robb Elementary School attack was a blatant failure and contradicts everything we have learned," McCraw said.
The 19 officers on site were looking for a key for two classrooms in which the perpetrator was staying.
The door wasn't even locked.

School massacre in Texas: "How could someone shoot my baby?" Roland Nelles reports from Uvalde, Texas
“The officers had guns, the kids didn't.
The officers wore protective vests, the children didn't.
The officers had training, the person had none.
One hour, 14 minutes and eight seconds - that's how long the children and teachers in room 111 waited for their rescue," said the DPS director.
Just three minutes after the first shots were fired, "a sufficient number of armed officers with protective vests were on site to isolate, distract and neutralize the person".
Uvalde Police Chief Pete Arredondo previously said in another hearing that he never considered himself the commander of the incident at the scene of the shooting and that he did not order police to refrain from entering the building.
Arredondo told the Texas Tribune he left his two radios in front of the school because he wanted his hands free to hold his gun.
He requested tactical gear, a sniper and keys to get inside the school and stayed outside the doors for 40 minutes to avoid provoking a shootout.
