Soaring fuel prices, inflation and a boom in tourism after two years of COVIDs bring a wave of
hikes for airline tickets
.
The social networks are full of comments and protests from those who have to buy plane tickets for summer holidays: increases by 91% more than last summer in the face of bookings that continue to grow.
Meanwhile, reports also arrive to
consumer associations
.
The experts in the aviation sector explain that the phenomenon of price increases is essentially due to three types of reasons.
Certainly due to the resumption of tourism which this year marks a real boom in bookings.
But another element of particular importance is the
rise in fuel prices
, which mark increases of more than 80% per barrel with the war in Ukraine.
Thirdly, they underline, it must be considered that the airlines return to fly after having remained practically stationary for two years and this generates an increase in prices for the whole sector, which is more evident in the summer season when the catchment area increases and therefore also the reports.
The same insiders explain that summer rates are normally planned for March but the situation has worsened and therefore it was not initially possible to estimate the very important impact of the war.
On social media there are also those who observe that with the sudden resumption of travel, many companies and airports have found themselves facing organizational and personnel difficulties and, moreover, with the closure of the airspace due to the war in Ukraine, the companies are forced to do longer routes than usual.
Federconsumatori makes it known that it has received some reports complaining about the rise in prices above all of intercontinental and European flights: the former even doubled and the European ones by at least a third.
