The absence of rain is putting Italy to the test.

The whole North suffers in particular, where hundreds of municipalities have already adopted measures by rationing water.

But concern is also growing in Central Italy.

And the weather forecast does not bode well for at least another week.

On the subject ANSA and DataMediaHub surveyed how much Italians are actually alarmed, or not, in this regard by analyzing online conversations (social + online news + blogs and forums) in the last week until the early hours of today 22 June.

There are just under 40 thousand online citations relating to drought, by over 7 thousand unique users, whose contents involved ((like + reaction + comments and shares) more than 245 thousand subjects.

Volume of conversations which, by virtue of the media amplification of the issue, generated a potential reach, the so-called “opportunity to be seen”, of 118.9 impressions on the subject.

Potential reach that we reasonably estimate corresponds to an actual reach of 5.9 billion views, gross of duplications, on the issue.

The content that has created the most involvement is an ANSA article on the issue that has been widely disseminated in particular on Facebook, but also on other social platforms.

As the word cloud shows, the centrality of discussions on the topic is relative to water rationing.

But the increasingly acute effects of climate change are also the subject of discussion as well as of course the measures implemented by the Presidents of the regions most involved.

It is young people, those between 18 and 34 who participate most of all in online conversations on the subject.

If this is a fact inevitably affected by the greater general participation of people of that age on social media, there is no doubt that they are more sensitive to the damage of climate change.

It is clear to everyone that there is no more time to waste.

We still have time to avoid further discomfort and we must act now.
