For many, summertime means having to live with the heat in your own home.

Learn how to combat this problem here.

Every year the summer heat returns to houses and apartments.

For some it doesn't matter much.

Others suffer from the high temperatures,

especially in the attic

.

Do only expensive air conditioning systems help in such a case?

No, because in truth there are many different tricks that you should try once.

A parasol alone is often not enough in summer.

However, there are a few simple tricks to cool down in the apartment.

Cool down your apartment: try these ten tricks

  • Ventilate properly

: As is well known, fresh and cooler air comes into the apartment when it is ventilated.

But be careful: In midsummer you should pay attention to the time of day before opening all the windows.

At midday, when the sun is high, bring warmer air into the house.

    This increases the temperatures.

It is therefore better to ventilate in the morning or at night when it is colder outside.

  • Close outdoor blinds during the day

: If you don't mind going about your daily life in darker rooms, consider closing the outdoor blinds during the heat of the summer.

If they are light in color, you have another advantage: They reflect the light, which means that the apartment does not heat up as quickly.

  • Aluminum Foil Trick

: Don't have external blinds to reflect light?

No problem: Stick aluminum foil to the outside windows.

Incidentally, you should not attach the film from the inside, as according to

    BILD.de

the panes could crack due to the heat build-up.

  • Frozen water bottle trick

: Several years ago, a Twitter user claimed to have discovered an ingenious trick to deal with the heat in their home.

In order for it to succeed, you have to fill a bottle (1.5 liters) with some water, freeze it and then place it at a high point in the room.

Depending on the size of the room, two or three bottles might be necessary.

You can easily try it yourself to see whether it works in your case.

  • Turn off electronic devices

: You can make a small change by turning off electronic devices that are not required.

These include, for example, the television or the PC.

Also, try not to cook too hot in the summer, as this creates extra heat.

  • Fans instead of mobile air conditioners

: there are now countless devices and models that promise a cooler climate.

These include, for example, mobile air conditioners and fans.

Incidentally, if you can no longer stand the heat, it is advisable to use the fan instead, as it usually consumes less electricity.

  • Natural Air Conditioning Using Curtains

: When you air out in the morning or at night, you can add an extra fresh breeze by spraying your curtains with water.

Evaporative cooling occurs when the water changes to the gaseous state.

  • Natural air conditioning with the help of towels

: This also works with a towel that you hang on the back of a chair, for example.

At the bottom, place a water container in which the towel hangs.

If you place a fan behind the towel or have the window open, you will also benefit from the evaporative cooling.

  • Houseplants with

a cooling effect: Some plants cool you down by releasing the water they have absorbed back into the air.

As a general rule, the larger the leaves of potted plants, the better chance they have of being able to slightly lower temperatures.

  • Let laundry dry in the apartment

: As we already know, we benefit from evaporative cooling in summer.

So it makes sense that we should dry our laundry indoors too.
