After the discovery of a dead 15-year-old in Salzgitter, the public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig assumes a homicide.
Accordingly, the girl is “subject to final investigations” about the young people who have been missing since Sunday.
An autopsy will now determine the exact cause of death.
According to prosecutors, two young people are urgent suspects.
It was a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, it said.
According to the authorities, the 13-year-old, who has not yet reached the age of criminal responsibility, cannot be imprisoned, so the youth welfare office was involved in his case.
A warrant for murder was requested for the 14-year-old.
Motive apparently "in the personal sphere"
The motive for the act has not yet been finally clarified, but is "in the personal sphere".
The public prosecutor's office did not provide any further information on the case.
The 15-year-old was reported missing on Sunday.
On Tuesday, emergency services discovered a body in a tree-lined green area near residential buildings while looking for the student.
It was initially unclear whether the dead person was the one being sought.
