The Champs-Élysées Film Festival: independent cinema in total immersion

2022-06-22T15:13:29.958Z

The 11th edition of the festival which makes the mythical Parisian avenue vibrate is held from June 21 to 28. A rich and varied celebration of auteur films to explore.

It's "the most beautiful avenue in the world", so why not shut yourself in there?

In any case in one of its (many) dark rooms, rather than in its somewhat standardized shops.

Created in 2012 by producer, distributor and exhibitor Sophie Dulac, the Champs-Élysées Film Festival aims to highlight the multitude of cinemas that house one of the most famous axes of the capital, as well as independent French and American cinema. .

Previews and masterclasses

In addition to the official selection, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy previews (

Coma

, by Bertrand Bonello,

The Super 8 years

by Annie Ernaux and David Ernaux-Briot or

The Worst

, by Lisa Akoka, winner of the Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival this year) in the presence of the film crews.

And also to explore the love and desire seen by the directors of the 90s via the Freed From Desire selection (we decline all responsibility if you now have the chorus of Gala in your head): the opportunity to see the documentary

No sex last night

by Sophie Calle and Greg Shephard or the cult

But I'm a cheerleader

, by Jamie Babitt,

Finally, we note the masterclass, by director Ari Aster, guest of honor at the festival, who will perhaps explain, or at least in part, what he had in mind when imagining the deeply disturbing

Midsommar

 or

Heredity

.

So many strong emotions that we can recover from, each evening, on the rooftop of the Drugstore Publicis, where showcases will be held by Albin de la Simone, the American composter Dan Deacon (also guest of honor at the festival), Clara Ysé or DJ Barbara Butch.

All while contemplating the Arc de Triomphe from one of the most beautiful perspectives in Paris.

Like in the movies.
