The poet Patrizia Cavalli has died.

She was 75 years old.

This is what we learn from the Einaudi publishing house.

Born in Todi in 1947, Patrizia Cavalli died in a hospital in Rome where she arrived in her early twenties.

He had his debut in 1974 with 'My poems will not change the world', published by Einaudi, publisher of almost all of his books, followed in 1981 by 'Il cielo' and 'L'io singolare proprio mio' from 1992, gathered in 'Poesie (1974-1992).

In 2020 she had entered the five-tier of the Campiello Prize with 'Japanese Steps' (Einaudi. Supercoralli), a collection of prose with powerful images and moods.

Pure poetess, whose talent she had recognized Elsa Morante, author of books such as 'Pigre divinity and lazy fate', 'Datura'

"It is with great sorrow that I learn of the death of Patrizia Cavalli, one of the greatest poets of our time".

Thus the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, expresses condolences for the death, today in Rome, of the poet.

"Writer, translator, known and loved for many generations, she bequeaths us her wonderful verses that have been able to speak to thousands of people" underlines Minister Franceschini.
