Giant tortoise wants to cross the street - police stop traffic

Last weekend a spurred tortoise escaped from home in Freiburg.
She probably wanted to take a leisurely Sunday walk.
Freiburg – Spurred tortoises are known for being particularly imposing figures.
Only the giant tortoises of the Seychelles and the Galapagos Islands are larger.
It can reach a carapace length of about 80 centimeters and a weight of over 80 kilograms.
And just such a colossus had chosen a street for a leisurely walk at the weekend.

The Freiburg police published this curious incident on their Facebook page.
The tame and enchanting lady with the very apt name "Tranquilla" (quiet, leisurely) must have escaped from her outdoor enclosure.
In Günterstal, south of Freiburg, she wanted to comfortably cross a street.
The police joke: "Surely one green phase would not have been enough for the spurred tortoise to cross." The discovery of a family in their attic is also remarkable.
And further: "Since no animal expert was available quickly, we just took over the transport of the animal to the quickly identified owner ourselves." Armed with a wheelbarrow, the cheerful officer drove the 15-year-old turtle home.
