Shortly before Amazon Prime Day: Media Markt announces a strong discount campaign

From Thursday evening (June 23) the electronics retailer Media Markt will be offering big discounts under “3 days of madness” – just before Amazon Prime Day.
Ingolstadt – Those who prefer to shop locally will have to wait until Friday (June 24).
However, fans of online shopping can already fill their shopping cart on Thursday evening (June 23) at 8 p.m.
From this point in time, Media Markt will grant customers 15.966 percent.
As part of the so-called “3 days of madness”, discounts “across the entire range” have been announced, as reported by the

Inside Digital
portals .
A total of 16,000 products could be reduced.
The online campaign ends on Sunday at 11:50 p.m.
In markets with Sunday shopping, the discounts end at 8 p.m., otherwise one day earlier.
Media Markt also points out that the offer is only valid while stocks last.
In the case of particularly sought-after products, customers have to act quickly.
It is apparently still unclear whether popular brands such as Dyson, Apple and Sonos are again excluded from the discount campaign.
Discount campaign at Media Markt: This is how the odd amount is made up
The odd amount for the discounts on Media Markt's "3 Days of Madness" can be confusing.
But it has a mathematical reason: the electronics retailer wants to waive 19 percent VAT for its customers.
Since the VAT is calculated on the basis of the net price, the actual discount is then 15.966 percent.
VAT will also be shown on the invoice during the promotion, but at a correspondingly reduced amount.
As with previous promotions, anyone who buys online will probably only see the discount when a product is already in the shopping cart.
The date for the Media Markt campaign “3 days of madness” was deliberately chosen
The reason for the campaign may be Amazon Prime Day 2022, which will take place in just over two weeks.
Media Markt seems to want to attract customers with the discounts who are already waiting for Prime Day.
It remains to be seen how the discounts will differ and whether it might be worth waiting for the Amazon campaign.
Studies of the past Prime Days showed that the calculated discount for Prime customers is an average of 16 percent compared to other shops.
However, if the product is cheaper on Prime Day, there is no way to return the purchased, more expensive copy to Media Markt.
Because the Media Markt campaign ends exactly 15 days before Prime Day, so the return period has already expired.
