"There is an urgent need to protect the Alsatian forests and their biodiversity", warns Marc Brignon, the director of the Conservatory of natural areas of Alsace (CEN Alsace).
He launches a subscription in order to acquire the maximum of woodlots in the region in the years to come.
“We invite Alsatians to help us become owners of these forests.
From time to time there are opportunities that we must seize,” insists Marc Brignon.
Recently, CEN Alsace acquired 30 hectares of forest in Masevaux (Haut-Rhin).
“When we own wood, we are certain that they will not be threatened by any exploitation of any kind whatsoever: hunting, commercial, construction, etc.,” explains the Director of CEN Alsace.

His association currently manages 2,400 hectares of natural areas in Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin.
“We advocate the free evolution of forests in order to leave dead wood that allows biodiversity to develop.
We only intervene for security work when certain species are threatening”, continues Marc Brignon.
He intends to turn the forests held by CEN Alsace into laboratories: “By letting the forests develop without human intervention, we will see how they adapt to climate change and the water stress from which they suffer”.
For the moment, no financial objective has been set for this forest subscription, the only objective being to remain on the lookout for the possibility of acquiring new hectares.
You can participate financially in the “forests” subscription by making a donation of 40 euros.
