The public service unions are calling for “emergency measures on pay scales, in particular to accelerate professional equality between men and women”.

The representative organizations of the public service CFDT, CFE-CGC, CFTC, CGT, FAFP, FO, FSU, Solidaires, Unsa, take note of the unprecedented result of the legislative elections, and the elements of democratic crisis that it has revealed

" , according to a joint statement.

The unions “

strongly affirm that public officials should not bear the brunt of this situation

”, against a backdrop of declining purchasing power due to inflation which has accelerated in recent months.

The bill on purchasing power, which should include an increase in the index point for civil servants, the amount of which remains unknown, should in principle be presented on July 6 to the Council of Ministers, for examination by the deputies in the stride.

But the absence of an absolute majority for the presidential Renaissance party (ex-LREM) and its allies complicates legislative work and could call this timetable into question.

The public service unions, in addition to a "

consequent and visible revaluation of the value of the index point

", are asking for "

emergency measures on the pay scales, in particular to accelerate professional equality between men and women

".

They also denounce the fact that the number of civil servants affected by the increases in the Smic has doubled in two years, from 400,000 to more than 800,000.

Raising the minimum wage leads to a reduction in the salary scales of public officials.
