This was reported by the local press, stating that a person was arrested.

The incident happened in Murrays Bay.

One woman said she ran away screaming for help after being threatened on the beach by a man armed with a "big knife".

The woman, who did not want to be identified, lives near the beach where she had taken her dog for a walk, when she noticed a man near the shore.

Thinking that she wanted to speak to her, she had taken off her cell phone headphones and approached him, almost immediately noticing her knife.

She started running towards the local sailing club as the man continued running towards Beach Rd, where he disappeared.

Shortly after, however, he was tracked down and arrested.

Waitematā District Police Commander, Superintendent Naila Hassan, told reporters that four people were stabbed in "random" and "isolated" attacks.

The perpetrator was a local and the people affected have minor injuries.
