"We need to take decisive action to tackle two issues: poor work, 12-13% of workers are below the poverty line, and wage trends. There is the risk of a piece of society collapsing and of a increase in inequalities ". (HANDLE)

ANSA Lavoro - ROME, 23 JUN - "We need to intervene with decision to address two issues: poor work, 12-13% of workers are below the poverty line, and the trend of wages. There is the risk of a piece of a sinking society and an increase in inequalities ".

Thus the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando, at the ANSA forum "Diversity, inclusion, equity: a new vision for work".

Orlando indicated the possibility of putting in place "fiscal responses" and "mechanisms of bargaining and the definition of the minimum wage", recalling the proposal that links him to the contracts signed by the most representative organizations.

"Women are often put in the position of having to choose between work and family, one of the main causes of the low rate of female employment in our country and also one of the reasons for the country's demographic difficulty", she said, highlighting the importance of further developing the path and the tools available to better reconcile work and family life.

"Yesterday we extended a series of support measures for families and businesses and we implemented two important European directives", on the transparency of relationships and working conditions and on the reconciliation between life and work times, with which, among other things, leave is extended parental, Orlando recalled.

"It is not yet the set-up we would like to have at full capacity but it is a step in the direction of a familiar work sharing between men and women and more tools" to reconcile work times with family life, Orlando said.

"It is a path that has been opened and will need to be further developed", remarked the minister, "by investing more and more resources. This first step has been taken, we must further implement parental leave" (ANSA).
