Duchess Kate and Prince William have been a married couple for more than eleven years – but there has not yet been a royal portrait of the British heir to the throne and his wife.
Now William and Kate have received the first official work of art in Cambridge, which the couple is showing together.
The commissioned work by painter Jamie Coreth shows the Duchess of Cambridge in an elegant emerald green dress.
Prince William wears a black suit with a tie, one hand casually tucked into his pocket.
Both look to a point in the distance.
"As this is the first portrait of the two together, and particularly in their roles as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted to give the impression of a balance between their public and private lives," artist Coreth said at the unveiling of the work, according to Reuters .
In the past, Coreth has received the BP Portrait Award for young artists for a portrait of his father, the sculptor Mark Coreth.
According to Reuters, the portrait will initially be exhibited at the Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge, but will also be temporarily loaned to the National Portrait Gallery in London next year.
In the British tabloids, the work of art was praised enthusiastically.
The "Express" wrote about a "breathtaking picture", the "Mirror" reported that the couple looked "dazzling".
