The first names given to children in France are constantly changing and diversifying. If some parents just don't hesitate

A few days ago, the list of the most given first names in France fell.

In this ranking established by INSEE, Gabriel comes in pole position for male first names, when Jade dominates the ranking of female first names.

For several years, the variety of first names has been increasing in France, young parents often deciding to name their child by a personalized first name, drawing inspiration in particular from series, films or even cartoons to find the rare pearl.

“In time, the most given first name concerned 4 to 5% of infants”, explains Baptiste Coulmont, author of the book “Sociology of first names”, whereas it now only concerns 1 to 2% of births.

But among this flood of first names, where is yours?

If your name is Kylian, like the star of Paris Saint-Germain and the France team, know that you are far from being the only one now.

Since the early 1990s, this first name has experienced considerable growth, peaking in 2007, when nearly 2,031 Kylians were born.

On the other hand, if your name is Marie, it's a whole different story.

Very popular at the beginning of the 20th century, with nearly 1,066 children named as such in 1902, this first name experienced a dizzying fall over the years, finally being attributed to only three little girls in 1997.

Thanks to our simulator, find out how many French people were named like you in your year of birth, and how your first name has evolved over the years.
