(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, June 23 - The Italian-American Paolo Banchero, a player from the Duke Blue Devils university basketball team, has been selected by the Orlando Magic as first choice in the NBA draft in New York.
In recent days, the young 20-year-old said he was ready to play for the Italian national team as well, since he is a naturalized Italian thanks to his father.
Banchero is the son of athletes: the madreamamerican Rhonda Smith played in the top female league (WNBA) while his father Mario of Italian origin is an ex-American football player at university level.
