(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 24 - In Brazil, the former president LuizInacio Lula da Silva remains ahead of the current head of state Jair Bolsonaro for the next presidential elections scheduled for October.

This was supported by a survey carried out by the Datafolha institute for the Folha di San Paolo newspaper (2,556 people interviewed on 22 and 23 June in 181 Brazilian cities, margin of error around 2%).

The leader of the Brazilian left got 47% of the voting intentions in the first round while his opponent 28%.

The gap was similar a month ago.

In third place the center-right candidate Ciro Gomes (8%).

By calculating only the valid votes - without blank or invalid ballots - Lula can count on 53% of voting intentions and 32%: if these estimates were to materialize, the leader of the Workers' Party would win in the first round.

"This new poll shows, once again, that the Brazilian people want to get rid of this tragic government," tweeted Lula.
