Covid: Iss, 'the Rt index returns above 1, hospitalizations increase'

The transmissibility index goes back beyond the epidemic threshold, according to the latest weekly monitoring by the ISS and the Ministry of Health on Covid. The weekly incidence is growing and hospitalizations are increasing, both in ordinary wards and in intensive care. (HANDLE)


The incidence and the transmissibility index Rt still rise, returning

above the epidemic threshold

In the period 1 June - 14 June, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.07 (range 0.76-1.48), an increase compared to the previous week, when it was equal to 0.83.

The weekly incidence on a national level is also growing:

504 per 100,000 inhabitants

(17/06/2022 -23/06/2022) against 310 per 100,000 inhabitants (10/06/2022 -16/06/2022).

Hospitalizations for Covid

The employment rate in intensive care rose to 2.2% (Ministry of Health daily survey on 23 June) compared to 1.9% in the previous week (Ministry daily survey on 16 June).

The employment rate in

medical areas

nationwide rose to 7.9% (daily survey on 23 June) compared to 6.7% last week (daily survey on 16 June).
