(ANSA) - CAGLIARI, JUNE 24 - A "Wheat Pact" to relaunch Sardinian cereal farming by giving firm points to the sector that most of all is undergoing the fluctuations of the most uncertain market in history due to speculation.
It was signed this morning in Cagliari between Coldiretti Sardegna and ilmolino Casillo through the Agricultural Consortium of Sardinia.
We start from two certainties: guaranteed minimum price for everyone, starting from 51 euros per quintal, and immediate payments that secure the cereal growers from a fluctuating market for dynamics far from local logic.
Two pillars in a "no-rules" market in which farmers are at the mercy of international speculations, with prices that rise and that could collapse due to uncontrollable dynamics, such as the definitive blockade of the Ukrainian market and the arrival of wheat from Canada (reference markets for imports) that they have a heavy impact on the equilibrium of the internal market ", says Coldiretti.
Wheat this year is reaching record prices never reached before, with increases of almost 90% compared to last year when it was paid on average to the producer at around 27 euros a quintal.
Increases that will not guarantee greater margins to the farmer who has already produced with very high costs: the costs increased by 170%, diesel by 130%.
