Istat estimates a decrease in the consumer confidence climate index in June (from 102.7 points to 98.3), which brings it to its lowest level since November 2020. The composite index continues to rise, however. business confidence which went from 111 to 113.6 points with the second consecutive increase.
All components of the consumer confidence index are declining.
In particular, the economic climate and the current one recorded the "most marked" decreases.
As for companies, they recorded the highest value of confidence since December 2021 with progress in each sector starting from market services.
The main driver is the transport and storage sector.
For households, the economic climate drops from 103.6 points to 93.9, the current one from 104.6 to 97.9.
The personal climate decreased from 102.4 to 99.8 and the future climate passed from 99.8 to 98.8.
Istat "reports a widespread worsening of all the variables that enter into the calculation of the indicator with the exception of those referring to savings (opportunities to save in the current phase and the possibility of saving in the future)".
"With reference to companies, the increase in the index in industry is more contained (in manufacturing and construction the index rises, respectively, from 109.4 to 110.0 and from 158.7 to 159.7) compared to to services (in market services the index increases from 103.8 to 109.1 and in retail trade it increases from 105.8 to 107.2) ", reads the note.
