There are many recipes with potatoes, but very few explain how to peel them.

With a trick, the shell can be easily removed.

Potato salad, mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, gratins or fries: there are countless dishes that can be prepared from potatoes.

As a rule, these must first be peeled before they can be used further.

You can also eat the skin, but you should be careful with new potatoes.

But peeling the potatoes is quite annoying and you often cut off too much of the tuber.

But with a trick, you can remove the shell much easier and faster.

Peel potatoes: This trick is much easier

  • First wash the potatoes thoroughly in water.

Remove any leftover soil and other dirt that is stuck to the bowl.

  • With a sharp knife, score the skin once all the way around.

  • Put the potatoes in boiling water and let them cook until tender.

  • Then take out the potatoes and rinse with cold water.

You can also put them in a bowl with water and ice cubes.

  • Now you can easily peel off the potato skins along the scored line.

Be careful as the tuber may still be hot.

If part of the skin cannot be peeled off, you can use a knife or peeler to help.

  • Here's a video showing how it works:

This trick is great when you have to peel a lot of potatoes at once.

In this way, you only remove the skin and can process almost 100 percent of the tuber.

When cooking potatoes, you should also avoid five common mistakes that almost everyone makes.
