Deprivation of liberty, abuse of wards and fraud: The district court of Rostock has sentenced a former nursing home operator to four years in prison.
The judges clearly went beyond the sentence imposed by the district court of Güstrow.
There the woman was sentenced to two years and four months in prison in August 2019.
Both the prosecution and the defense appealed against this.
Older people housed in »shitholes«
According to a court spokeswoman, the judges found clear words in the reasoning for the behavior of the 36-year-olds.
In the course of the appeal hearing, "abysses of human greed" opened up, senior citizens were housed in "shitholes" under inhumane conditions.
Until the official closure in 2016, the woman in Krakow am See (Rostock district) operated two care facilities.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the woman to be banned from working in the nursing sector for five years.
The judgment is not yet final, an appeal can be requested.
