The question comes up on everyone's lips, already masked for some: should measures be put in place against the Covid-19 epidemic?

Faced with a seventh wave, Professor Gilles Pialoux, head of the infectious diseases department at Tenon hospital and interviewed on BFMTV this Friday, calls for “collective responsibility”.

If there is no question, and above all impossible for him, to consider a constraint for the return of barrier gestures, the current rise in cases imposes “individual responsibility on the mask of the mask in transport”.

"It is not because it is not mandatory that it is not recommended", insists the doctor.

To explain this new wave, he evokes “many people at a distance from the third dose and barrier gestures”, citing festive moments in particular, such as the music festival.

The question of the mask in transport is pressing.

Several scientists and doctors are calling for its return, such as immunology professor Alain Fischer, who favors “personally” the return of the mask in public transport, “certainly for fragile people, and probably for the whole population” .

“The current measures are enough if everyone gets involved”

On the government side, “the idea is not to return to more restrictive measures for the moment”, indicated Brigitte Bourguignon, Minister of Health.

“But we are monitoring the situation every day to take other measures if necessary.

Asked about a possible return to health measures, such as the obligation to wear a mask in transport, the minister judged that at this stage, “the current measures are sufficient if everyone gets involved”.

She urged “citizen responsibility (…) to avoid additional hospital tension”.

“Contaminations are rising”, and if it is necessary “for example to consider a return of the mask in transport (…) we do not forbid ourselves anything”, reacted for her part on Thursday on franceinfo the spokesperson for the government, Olivia Grégoire , ensuring that the executive “would seize the health authorities (…) if this question were to arise in the coming weeks”.
