(ANSA) - TURIN, 23 JUN - Over a thousand events in five days, with free admission, and a new location in ParcoDora, a peripheral place that symbolizes regeneration: these are the novelties of the 2022 edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, scheduled in Turin from 22 to September 26th.

The presentation today at the Environment Park, which is part of the areas that will be involved in the event.

Among the speakers, the founder of Slow Food Carlo Petrini, the mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo, and the Councilor for Agriculture of Piedmont, Marco Protopapa.

The first events on the calendar have been online on the Terra Madre website for a week, all the others are in progress.

There will be traditional Taste Workshops, Table Appointments and Conferences, and in Turin they will convene three thousand Terra Madre delegates from all over the world, including farmers and breeders, indigenous peoples and cooks, migrants and fishermen.

The fil rouge chosen for this edition is #RegenerAction.

"I hope that the central theme of the event, that is regeneration - said Petrini - can be a good example that can be applied all over the world. The appointment in Torinosi has always been held in the following years at community level all over the world, therefore these communities also come here to draw inspiration and conviction to make a management process operational ".

"If we want to achieve a true regeneration of cities, countryside and villages starting from the production and distribution of food - he underlined - we must overcome the vision that sees innovation and tradition as opposing elements: this is counterproductive, I believe that true innovation exists when a tradition is successful" .

Petrini called for "a paradigm shift" starting from citizens, since "politics did not behave well".

Also to face "the environmental upheaval, which is creating us much suffering and in the future will be much more serious than a pandemic and war", and which "is largely determined by a food system that does not work".

That's why, he explained, "the Turin appointment is important: it will also serve to think about new practices".

The founder of Slow Food, however, also recalled politics, not only local and national, but also European, emphasizing that "if we are in this situation" it is because "there is a lack of a political vision of agriculture and food, without which we cannot go forward. we will pay a very expensive duty ".
