Iss: 'More cases not notified'. Hope: 'Those who are infected at home'. Increased risk with Omicron in unvaccinated. 56,386 cases in the last 24 hours, 40 victims. Rate at 21.8% (ANSA)

Covid reinfections in Italy are still increasing: in seven days they rise to 8.4% compared to 7.5% last week, with a higher risk in the unvaccinated, in women and in the younger age groups.

And the race of new positives to Sars-CoV-2 continues even if the numbers do not reflect the real infections.

In fact, in this phase, characterized by the circulation of highly transmissible variants, "there has been a sharp increase in non-notified cases" due to underdiagnosis or 'self-diagnosis', says the Higher Institute of Health.

A situation where, however, says the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, any revisions of the measures "are not on the agenda".

But he puts the seal on the debate about the isolation of positives.

Those who are infected "must stay at home", says the head of health.

According to the daily Covid bulletin, the currently positives rise to 703,479 with an increase of 25,301 in the last 24 hours.

Hence the challenge of individual responsibility and the masks that "in some cases continue to be recommended", says Speranza and that "should be used on all occasions at risk".

While it is expected on the use of masks in the workplace in view of the deadline of 30 June.

A technical meeting is scheduled for Monday 27 between the Labor and Health ministries, and Inail,

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, according to the bulletin of the Ministry of Health, there are 56,386 new cases (55,829 yesterday);

40 victims (yesterday 51), for a toll from the beginning of the pandemic of 168,058 deaths;

A total of 258,456 swabs were performed, including antigenic and molecular, with the positivity rate of 21.8%, down from 23.4% yesterday.

Intensive care was stable, while ordinary hospitalizations rose (+137).

Infections are rising but, explains the Undersecretary of Health, Pierpaolo Sileri, "the wave will last a few weeks and then go off as it is already happening in other countries where it arrived earlier".

Today, says Sileri, the situation "is completely different from last year. We have almost 50 million Italians who have completed the vaccination cycle, of which 40 million with a third dose".
