Lecture on Afterlife (Dr OZ)

Death is a very complex subject that many of us try to avoid engaging in or thinking about.

Perhaps this is also why researchers know very little about death and the hours or days preceding it.

Because very little research has been done on death so far, a number of medical experts have shared their experiences from years of watching patients on the verge of death to try to assess what is ultimately expected of us all.

A palliative care physician (a therapeutic approach focused on improving quality of life and relieving the pain of patients with incurable diseases) who witnessed hundreds of people die in his shift, revealed what he says happens to a person when he dies and how it feels to die.

The specialist tried to explain what he saw in his patients in the hours and days before their death, when what is actually happening is still defined as a mystery.

He says death usually begins to occur about two weeks before the heart makes its last beat, and there are several signs that death is coming.

Dr Seamus Coyle, an honorary research fellow at the University of Liverpool, spoke of the death process in an article for The Conversation: “As a palliative care specialist, I think there is a process of death that happens two weeks before we move on to the next world.

During this period, people tend to feel less well.

They usually have difficulty walking and become more sleepy.

They manage to stay awake for shorter and shorter periods. "

He added:" Towards the last days of their lives, the ability to swallow tablets or consume food and beverages eludes them.

About this time we realize that people are 'actively dying' and usually estimate that they have two to three days left to live.

However, some people will go through this whole stage within a day, and some people can stay on the verge of death almost a week before they die, which is usually very painful for families.

"There are different things that happen to different people and we can't predict them."

What happens in the body at the moment of death itself is largely unknown, however some studies predict a flux of chemicals released from the brain.

These include endorphins, which can trigger feelings of euphoria in a person.

Dr. Coyle said: “It is difficult to decipher the true moment of death, but an unpublished study suggests that as people get closer to death, there is an increase in the stress chemicals in their bodies.

For people with cancer, and perhaps others as well, inflammatory signs suddenly appear.

These are the chemicals that are increased when the body fights infection.

In general, the pain appears to decrease during the dying process.

We do not know why this happens, but it could be related to endorphins.

Again, no in-depth research has yet been done on the subject. "

He added: "In the end, every death is different - and it is impossible to predict who will have his death. I think some of those I saw dead did not benefit from the chemical load 'for the good feeling'." , Who found it difficult to accept the fact that they were dying.

They had young families and they have never been able to relax or succumb to death in their last days. "
