(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 25 - The crews of the Canadair and helicopters of the State Air Fleet, coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, have been engaged today from the first light of the day in the extinguishing of numerous forest fires for which air support to the operations carried out by ground crews.
According to the data available at 18.30, 16 requests for air competition received by the Unified Air Operations Center of the Department, of which 5 from Sicily, 4 from Calabria and Sardinia, 2 from Puglia and one from Lazio.
The intense work carried out by the pilots of the aircraft has made it possible to control or extinguish 8 fires so far.
The launch activity of water and retardant and extinguishing liquid will continue as long as the light conditions allow it to operate safely.
