Honoring the winners of the Pioneers of Digital Transformation and Renewable Energies competitions

The National Union of Syrian Students and the Syrian Association of Young Entrepreneurs (SIA) today honored the winners of the Pioneers of Digital Transformation and Renewable Energies competitions, which were organized within the framework of the (Own Tomorrow) program for university students’ pioneer projects, on the amphitheater of Damascus University.

The number of winning projects reached eight, three of which were in the Digital Transformation Pioneers competition and five were in the Renewable Energies Pioneers competition, where the “Zajel” project by Mustafa Al-Yassin and Nawras Ibrahim and the “Al-Labib” project by Abdel-Fattah Esper, Khaled Al-Saleh, Majd Al-Raz and the “Majd Al-Raz” project won the “Digital Transformation” competition. The Renewable Energy Pioneers Competition was won by the project (a three-stage bioreactor for biogas production) by Eyas Shash and the project (a robot for cleaning and detecting faults by thermal imaging of solar panels) by Muhammad Bayan Armoush, Muhammad Yasser Zakaria, Muhammad Ali and Maryam Al-Amyan and the project (a mobile vehicle to meet Several services) for Ahmed Al-Baladi, a project (a fermenter for the waste of the mountain juice plant in the Suwayda governorate) for Osama Farhat, and a project (biogas generation through fermentation technology for domestic and industrial uses).

In her speech, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students, Dareen Suleiman, affirmed the union's support for pioneering thought and spreading the culture of self-employment among young people and providing the necessary environment to transform their ideas and graduation projects into successful projects with economic feasibility and a viable product for investment, in cooperation and networking with a number of supporting bodies.

Suleiman drew attention to the success achieved by the first pioneering investment forum (Opportunity 2022), which was recently organized by the Student Union in cooperation with the (SIA) Association to encourage and support student and entrepreneur projects and overcome the difficulties they face.

Suleiman noted the support that young people and university students enjoy in various fields from President Bashar Al-Assad and Mrs. Asma Al-Assad, and pointed out the importance of her visit to the (Opportunity 2022) forum and her meeting with the participating young pioneers and representatives of the business sector and small and microfinance companies to emphasize the need to support this group of society .

During the honoring ceremony, Suleiman launched the fourth competition for leadership in (Arabic digital content) and indicated that the invitation is open to participation from students and youth who wish, indicating that its announcement at this stage is part of strengthening our Arab affiliation, whether to Syria or even to the Arab world through Arabic digital content.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Young Entrepreneurs Association (SIA), Louay Al-Munajjid, praised the fruitful cooperation with the Union in terms of supporting youth projects and giving them the opportunity to self-form by creating their own job opportunity, calling on young people to register their projects through the (Forsa) electronic platform, which was launched experimentally last month and is being developed in a way complete before the end of this year.

In a speech by the judging committees, Dr. Khalil Ajami, President of the Syrian Virtual University, stated that the winning projects were selected according to scientific criteria that focused on innovation and the extent of the projects' ability to achieve an economic and social return.

In the speech of the companies supporting and sponsoring the two competitions, Ayman Al-Lahham, General Manager of (Simsoft) for digital services and digital content, drew attention to the support provided by the company, along with Sertel Communications and the Corker Group for business centers, for all entrepreneurial projects and pioneers in all disciplines, especially with regard to technology, digital transformation and insurance. All legal business licenses required to establish companies.

The honoring included introductory presentations on the winning projects, the distribution of prizes and shields to the winners, honoring members of the jury and participants with distinguished ideas and projects, a film about the two competitions, the Sia Association, and a lyrical performance by the Shalabiya band.

The honoring ceremony was attended by Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Minister of Education, Engineer Fadia Suleiman, Assistant Minister of Communications and Technology, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, President of Damascus University, and a number of heads of public and private universities, unions, institutions, bodies, and managers of microfinance institutions.
