(ANSA) - PARIS, June 25 - French President Emmanuel Macron has "decided to confirm confidence" in Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne after a first round of consultations with the political forces following the defeat suffered in Sunday's legislative elections.

He announced it in an interview with AFP.


    Macron said he had given the prime minister the task of casting out the parties and presenting proposals by the end of next week for the formation of a "new government of action" to be appointed "in the first days of July".
