French President Emmanuel Macron has "decided to confirm confidence" in Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne after an
initial round of consultations
with the political forces following the defeat suffered in Sunday's legislative elections.
He announced it in an interview with AFP.
Macron said he had given the prime minister the task of probing the parties and presenting proposals by the end of next week for the formation of a "new government of action" to be appointed "
in early July
".
The executive will be able to join, he explained, representatives of political forces ready to cooperate.
