Dozens of cancer patients and their families demonstrated last night (Sunday) in Herzliya in front of the home of the director of the Wolfson Government Hospital, Dr. Anat Engel, calling not to harm the Oncology Institute at the Holon Hospital and its head, Dr. Ronen Brenner.
Such a demonstration is very unusual in the Israeli health system: patients shouted "Do not want to die", "Let us live", "Dr. Brenner saved our lives", "Dr. Engel, do not kill us" and "Closing the Oncology Institute In Wolfson - Death sentence for cancer patients. "
The demonstration took place following the revelations in "Israel Today" about the crisis at the Oncology Institute at the Wolfson Government Hospital in Holon, and the fact that all the ward nurses left their jobs without prior notice due to allegations of inappropriate treatment and misconduct on the part of the department's director, Dr. Ronen Brenner.

At the same time, there have been unusual and harsh allegations that the Ministry of Health, hospital management and Dr. Engel have been consistently ignoring warnings and serious complaints for months about severe harm to the medical care of cancer patients.
As reported, a dramatic development in the crisis occurred last Thursday, when a complaint was filed against Dr. Engel claiming that she herself is causing the crisis at the Oncology Institute, with the aim of bringing it to a close and preventing further institute management by Dr. Brenner, who was also recently elected chairman Representing all the doctors at the hospital, this is one of the most serious complaints ever filed against the director of a public hospital in Israel, and it was sent to Dr. Engel by attorneys Erna Lin and Lee Ilan on behalf of Dr. Brenner, and a copy of the complaint was also forwarded to Prof. Nachman Ash, Director General of the Ministry of Health.

Wolfson Hospital responded: "The lawyer's letter is intended to divert attention from the reality of severe abuse of the institute's nurses, and thanks to the management's involvement and concern for patients, the institute also provides full care to all patients these days.

"The hospital's management is working to address the allegations against Dr. Engel. The Civil Service Commission and the Ministry of Health are working on the issue. We will continue to do everything for the patients and the staff."
