Another Aprilia arrived at the foot of the podium, with reigning world champion Aleix Espargaro, Fabio Quartararo crashing twice, again at turn 5 in Assen.
The first on lap five, after a contact with Espargaro's Aprilia.
The Yamaha rider managed to restart, albeit with a damaged bike.
In ninth he returned to the garage, and then returned to the track last.
But on lap 13 he crashed again and he had to retire.
The Frenchman goes to the World Cup stop with 172 points, followed by Espargaro at -21, Johann Zarco at -58, Bagnaia at -66 and Enea Bastianini at -67.
