2022-06-26T17:38:27.445Z

French competitor of Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video, SALTO offers an international streaming offer. Here's all it does

SALTO is a streaming video content platform, launched in August 2019. It is the result of the collaboration of France Télévisions, TF1 and M6, and it is a French response to SVOD platforms from the United States.

As a result, it positions itself as a competitor to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, or even Disney+.

SALTO works on the same principle: you have to pay a SALTO subscription to access its catalog of content, accessible from a computer, a connected television or via mobile devices.

But that's not all, since the platform also provides access to the television channels of the groups that participated in its foundation.

This service is therefore a typically French creation and is the only one of its kind.

Since the summer of 2019, SALTO has greatly expanded its catalog.

It displays convincing arguments thanks to numerous exclusive features and an offer that changes every month, like what the other streaming platforms on the market offer.

This may therefore make you want to take an interest in it, and even to subscribe to it, but you probably need to know a little more about SALTO: let us present the SVOD service to you in depth: its price , its catalog…

  • What is the price of the SALTO subscription?

SALTO does not offer a single subscription formula, but three different ones.

In all three cases, access to the entire catalog is guaranteed, on all the screens on which the platform is available.

But it all depends on the number of people who plan to access your account.

The price of the SALTO subscription adapts exactly to your needs

    • The SOLO offer

      costs 6.99 euros per month.

As its name suggests, it allows unique access to the account associated with this SALTO subscription.

You cannot therefore share this account with another person in your household.

    • The DUO offer

is, for its part, invoiced at 9.99 euros.

This is a SALTO subscription that allows the account to be used on two different screens at the same time.

It is useful for couples who often have different viewing preferences, but it can also be used on one side by parents and on the other by children, all at the same time.

    • The TRIBU offer

      is the last proposed.

It costs 12.99 euros and gives access to SALTO on four screens at the same time.

This is the most expensive solution, but also the most practical for family use.

Note that, for all offers, SALTO offers the first month of subscription.

This allows you to get a concrete idea of the promises of the service without having to pay.

At the end of the 30-day trial period, the subscription is automatically renewed and you start being billed as soon as the free month ends.

If you do not wish to continue your subscription beyond the trial period, you can unsubscribe.

It is also possible to do so at any time, since SALTO is non-binding.

Access SALTO via Amazon Prime Video with the bonus of a 30-day free trial on both SVOD platforms

On which screens is it possible to access SALTO?

There are many ways to access SALTO, once you have opened an account and subscribed to the subscription of your choice.

    • The computer,

whether it is a PC or a Mac, allows access to the SALTO catalog through a browser.

    • The connected television

is a screen that is often preferred for watching films and series, and it is, of course, possible to use SALTO on it.

Go a little further down in this article to discover the different methods to set up SALTO on your TV.

    • The smartphone

, iOS or Android, allows you to download the SALTO mobile application to connect to your account and access the entire catalog of the service.

    • The

iOS or Android touch tablet is also compatible with SALTO, via the same mobile application as that available on smartphones.

What is included in a SALTO subscription?

The three SALTO subscription formulas give access to the same thing, that is to say to the entire catalog of films, series, cartoons for children and documentaries, all in high HD quality.

This represents around 10,000 hours of programs that are permanently accessible, as new content arrives and old content leaves.

To this catalog available at will are added more than twenty television channels accessible live, at any time: TF1, France 2, France 3, France 5, M6, W9, TMC, TFX, France 4, Gulli, TF1 Series Films , 6ter and even France Info are part of it, as well as thematic channels such as TV Breizh, Téva, Paris Première, Ushuaïa TV, Histoire TV, TV5 Monde, Culturebox, TFouMax, GulliMax, Okoo, Tiji and Canal J. premieres of programs broadcast daily are also offered on SALTO.

It should be noted that, as with all other SVOD platforms available on the market, the content present on SALTO does not remain there indefinitely.

If the programs that come from the founding groups tend to be offered for a very long time within the service's catalog, foreign series and films can, for their part, disappear after a few months of availability.

This situation is completely normal: it results from the broadcasting contracts signed by SALTO with its partners.

Also, it is better not to wait too long before viewing a series and watch it to the end, at the risk of not seeing the end of it before it disappears from the SALTO catalog.

    What's in the SALTO catalog?

The SALTO content catalog is constantly evolving: this means that it is difficult to draw up an exhaustive list, and above all reliable over time, of the content found there.

However, it is possible to make an inventory of current content, without giving full details.

    We therefore find on SALTO:

    • French series:

Nina, A French village, Plus belle la vie, Here it all begins, HPI, Tomorrow belongs to us, Visions, Olivia, Chefs, Les Bracelets rouges, Les Chamois, Un si grand soleil, The trainee, The Mysteries of the love, research section, Clem, Under the sun…

    • Foreign series:

Charmed, Dr House, The Office, Vampire Diaries, The Carrie Diaries, Belgravia, The Rookie, Chucky, Dear Mama, The Middle, Roswell New Mexico, Superman & Lois, Pretty Little Liars, NCIS: Los Angeles…

    • Films:

Like Mother Like Daughter, The Visitor, Project X, The Pianist, Life is a Long Quiet River, Very Bad Trip, Fanboys, Logan Lucky, Side Effects, Between the Walls, The Circle, Denis, Pattaya, Chucky, Rain Man, Annie Hall, Push, La Boum, Sublime Creatures, Jane, Mamma Mia, The Voices, First Holidays, Harry Potter…

    • Documentaries:

Un si long silence, Neither judge nor submissive, Like one man, Take every wave, Become a Doctor, All the accuses, Human, The strategists, Chanel the insubordinate, World(s)…

    • Entertainment:

The Villa of Broken Hearts, Married at First Sight, Stars at Home, Love is in the Meadow, Fort Boyard, Project Runway...

These are just a few examples taken from the SALTO catalog which, once again, is in perpetual motion.

Note that it is possible to consult it at any time on the platform's official website, even if you are not yet a subscriber.

This allows you to get an idea of the offer at the moment T.

What is the difference between Netflix and SALTO?

In theory, there is no real difference between Netflix and SALTO: in both cases, it is an SVOD platform, which allows streaming videos to be viewed, i.e. without have to download them locally.

In both cases too, it is necessary to have a subscription to enjoy it over time, and it is possible to access it from the vast majority of connected screens.

In practice, however, the comparison stops there.

The main difference between the two services is in their catalog: Netflix relies heavily on its own new productions, which are the strong point of its offer.

Netflix exclusive series and movies tend to attract a lot of subscribers.

On the SALTO side, the exclusives are not produced by the platform, but are mainly acquisitions of foreign programs which have never been shown on French television, or which are not available in the catalogs of other SVOD platforms.

The presence of television channels within SALTO is a clear difference compared to Netflix, which does not offer such a service.

How to put SALTO on your TV?

If you have a connected TV running Android TV, WebOS or Tizen OS, you can download the SALTO application available on the catalog of apps accessible within your TV.

This concerns in particular models from the Philips, TCL, Sony, Thomson, Toshiba, Hisense, Panasonic, Sharp CHiQ, LG or Samsung brands.

If your TV is not connected, but still has an accessible HDMI port, you can use an Android TV box, a Fire TV Stick sold by Amazon or a Google Chromecast TV.

Apple TV boxes are also compatible.

If your television is compatible with Chromecast, you can broadcast the SALTO mobile application on your TV via a smartphone or a touch pad.

SALTO is also available on the Internet boxes of ISPs such as Free (Freebox Pop, Freebox Revolution) and Bouygues Telecom (Bbox Miami).

The other operators do not yet offer access to SALTO from their TV box.

If none of these solutions is valid for you, you can, as a last resort, connect your computer via HDMI to your television, to use it as a second screen on which it is possible to broadcast the SALTO stream.

This installation requires having an HDMI cable long enough to connect the two devices, but it remains a method that can help you out if you really want to enjoy SALTO on a big screen.

How do I cancel my SALTO subscription?

As mentioned above, SALTO is a non-binding SVOD service.

This means that it is possible to cancel your subscription at any time.

However, how to cancel depends on how you originally joined SALTO.

If you went directly to the service's website, you can connect to salto.fr to access your customer area.

In the “My subscription” section, simply click on “Cancel”.

If you went through an Apple device, open the “Settings” application then “your account, Apple ID, iCloud, media content”.

The “Subscriptions” section gives you access to your SALTO account: choose “Cancel subscription”.

From the Google Play Store (Android), you must click on your profile icon located at the top right of the application.

Then choose “Payments and subscriptions” then “Subscriptions”.

Select SALTO and choose "Cancel Subscription".

Finally, if you made your subscription from your Bouygues Telecom customer area, you must go there again to unsubscribe from SALTO.

You can go directly through the menus of your Bbox.

In the "Subscriptions & games" section, you will find your SALTO subscription and all you have to do is cancel your subscription.

Be aware that, in any case, your subscription cancellation will end at the end of the current month.

This means that you can unsubscribe at the beginning of the month to continue enjoying SALTO for a few more weeks before the account is deactivated.

It is not possible to unsubscribe immediately: each month started is a month due, which is why you must be attentive to the day of renewal of your subscription.

If you change your mind and decide to re-subscribe, all you have to do is repeat the initial procedure to regain access to the service: you will then be billed again.
