Sporting partner program at the G7 summit: hop, hop, hooray!

Sweating, chatting, exercising: With the G7 partner program, the four first ladies torture themselves during a Nordic walking session around the Felchensee. About the whimsical show running on the fringes of big politics.

Sporty is the woman: the partners of the heads of state and government in Nordic walking.

The photo from Sunday shows (from left to right): former professional skier Christian Neureuther, Carrie Johnson (wife of the British Prime Minister), former biathlete Miriam Neureuther (with baby in front of her stomach), Brigitte Macron (wife of French President Macron) , Britta Ernst (the wife of Chancellor Scholz and Amelie Derbaudrenghien (partner of EU Council President Charles Michel).

The woman has already managed that her husband Olaf mutated into a jogger at the age of 40 - now Britta Ernst gets the first ladies moving: After a hearty Sunday snack, the chancellor's wife (in her first job: Minister for Education, Youth and Sport in Brandenburg) completed a Nordic walking session around Lake Felchen with the wives of the heads of state and government.

Did the only first boy – the husband of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Heiko – suspect that and therefore pinch?

But not only Heiko von der Leyen is staying away from the G7 partner program: Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also came to Bavaria without their wives, as the Federal Press Office announced on Sunday.

Violin making and glacial retreat

Women would love to be there and accompany the little group gasping through the Bavarian fairytale landscape with the former ski racer Christian Neureuther and his daughter-in-law Miriam (and her little daughter Lotta, who is only two months old in front of her).

Who do you think is the fittest?

What do women have to tell each other?

There are four personalities at the start that couldn't be more different: Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French President, Boris Johnson's wife Carrie, Amélie Derbaudrenghien, the wife of EU Council President Charles Michel - and hostess Britta Ernst.

It is her first major appearance as First Lady: a title to which SPD politician Ernst was never limited from the start.

On Monday, the program provides for a master violin maker to inform the four women about their craft, and they should actually go to the Schneefernerhaus: the highest environmental research station in Germany on the Zugspitze.

But the idea was rejected.

Instead, scientist Till Rehm will give a lecture on glacier shrinkage and climate change on an alpine pasture;

an employee of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment is planning a lecture on biodiversity.

On Monday evening, the first ladies will meet their guys and have a barbecue together at the end - then at the latest the four will regain the calories they lost while Nordic walking around the Felchensee.
