The Labor and Welfare Committee is discussing the possibility of terminating a medical pregnancy in clinics, changing the questionnaires that women are required to fill out, submitting documents online and improving the treatment of applicants.

The Labor and Welfare Committee is currently (Monday) discussing the possibility of terminating a medical pregnancy in clinics, changing the questionnaires that women are required to fill out, submitting documents online and improving the treatment of applicants.

According to regulations that are expected to change, it will be possible to have a medical abortion (giving a pill called Mifigen) even in a clinic that has a gynecologist until week 12 (today it is only possible in hospitals).

Another change is that any hospital or clinic within which there is an abortion committee will offer the applicant a social worker. In addition, the applicant will have the option to choose not to appear before the committee.

Minister Horowitz explained that the regulations have not been updated for about 40 years and therefore changes are needed.

"In the past it was not possible to submit forms online. It was not possible to terminate a pregnancy. Now it is possible and that is why we are doing it here. The changes will make it possible to do it in a dignified and proper manner. Regulations have raised dust and are now making a change."

"There is no argument that there is mental supervision"

The chairman of the Labor and Welfare Committee, Efrat Reiter, responded: "This thing saved lives for me and my family.

We are not changing the world order here, but adapting to the existing situation. "

Knesset Gabi Lasky (Meretz): "We help give women the respect they deserve. Regulations come to make it easier for women in this process when they do not enter into a woman's privacy. They will not ask degrading questions."

Meretz MK Michal Rosin added: "No woman is going to have an abortion happily, easily or willingly.

It is a difficult and traumatic experience.

I am proud of Judaism that it sees first and foremost the peace of the mother body and soul, the peace of the family and the peace of the home.

Therefore, it is a point to honor him and a pride for Judaism. "

MK Moshe Gafni of Torah Judaism: "In the current situation, there is no debate that there is mental supervision.

"I am allowed to suspect that the Minister of Health took some things he wanted to change and the catalyst was in the United States." As a matter of fact, there is a debate in Israeli society. This is a viable fetus.

Last weekend, the Supreme Court of the United States voted in favor of the decision to delete the ruling "Row v. Wade" and thus the constitutional right to abortion will be revoked. This means that every state in the United States will be able to decide for itself whether to ban abortions.

The draft opinion is an unequivocal move against a 1973 decision that guaranteed federal constitutional protections for abortion rights as well as against a subsequent 1992 decision called "Planned Parenthood Against Casey" - which largely preserved the right.

"Row v. Wade's ruling was a big mistake from the beginning," Judge Elito wrote.
