Recipe: Cherry cake like grandma made - The ingredients
Servings: 12 (for 1 springform pan)

1 jar pitted cherries (350g drained weight)
125g butter
125 grams of sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
3 eggs
200 grams of wheat flour
1 pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of baking soda
2-4 tbsp milk
some powdered sugar

Bake cherry cake like grandma used to make: Here's how
Drain the cherries.
Melt the butter slowly and then let it cool.
Gradually stir in the sugar, vanilla sugar and then the eggs.
Mix flour, salt and baking powder and add to the butter-sugar-egg mixture.
Add enough milk to make the dough a creamy mass.
It must not be too liquid.
Preheat the oven to 175 °C top/bottom heat (160 °C fan oven).

Grease the mold with butter, then pour in the batter and smooth out.
Scatter the cherries on top and press them slightly into the batter.
Bake the cherry cake on the middle rack in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes.
Then let the cake cool down and sprinkle with some icing sugar just before serving.
