Heat doesn't just affect us humans.
Plants also suffer from the drought, and lawns in particular can be affected by drought.
Hot temperatures come
with
summer .
Many are looking forward to the hot season.
For agriculture, however,
drought
means one thing above all: crop failure.
So that plants do not
dry
out in the summer
heat
, you need enough water.
Shady places are also welcome for some species.

Is brown grass already dead or can it still be saved?
Meadows and lawns that have turned brown do not necessarily have to be completely dead and therefore lost.
There are various mechanical options for
saving
brown grass and helping
it regain its
green splendor .
One of them is the so-called
scarifying
.
When scarifying, remove the felt and moss to give the lawn plants more air.
This also loosens up the whole thing and you can then bring in new humus and new substrate.
Then you should fertilize and of course water the lawn again.

How to get rid of thatch and moss on your brown lawn in the garden
The lawn should be scarified at
least
once a year so that
enough air, water and nutrients
can get to the roots of the grass again.
It is best to scarify your lawn in the
spring
, although it is always possible between April and September.
Unless you use your lawn very intensively, you should better avoid scarifying in summer.
Because then your lawn will not recover from it.

You can easily
test
whether your brown lawn needs to be scarified at all .
To do this, take a metal rake and pull it through the lawn without applying pressure.
If mowing residue and moss get caught in the rake, you should free the lawn of the felt.
Moss can also be removed from the lawn with coffee grounds.
