Product recall in Bavaria: deadly poison found in seeds – company urgently warns against consumption

For the second time in a few days, a Dutch manufacturer has recalled its apricot kernels.

This time it only affects Bavaria.

Benthuizen/Munich - The Dutch manufacturer Liroy BV is recalling all "Apricot Seeds packs" sold.

The snacks went on sale in Bavaria in 100 gram packs.

The reason for the recall is excessive cyanide limits, the Benthuizen-based manufacturer said.

According to the manufacturer, apricot kernels naturally contain amygdalin, "which can release cyanide after ingestion."

The human body can excrete small amounts of it.

The company warns against consuming the product in consumers who have eaten large amounts or the whole package, the kernels could lead to cyanide poisoning.

In the worst case, it could even lead to death.

The dried apricot kernels from the Dutch manufacturer Liroy BV were recalled again in Bavaria.

The reason: cyanide limit values ​​have been exceeded.

Product recall: Another warning against consuming the kernels

Just a few days ago, the cores in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony had to be withdrawn from sale due to the danger of cyanide.

Symptoms of cyanide poisoning include weakness and confusion, anxiety, restlessness, headache, nausea, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, seizures, and cardiac arrest.

Consumers should not eat the product and return it to the market.
