The meeting of the Azzurri national basketball team in Brescia has begun in view of the match on July 4 against the Netherlands away in Almere, the last match of the first qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup
. After the match between Italy and Slovenia in Trieste - finished 90 -71 for Sekulic's team - and two days of break, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco will have 16 players at his disposal, among which to choose the 12 who will take the field against the Oranje selection led by Maurizio Buscaglia.
Present in the squad is Luigi Datome, whose last presence in the national team dates back to the match against Puerto Rico, the last match of the World Cup in China in 2019, which with his 175 appearances will be the captain.
The team will train at the PalaLeonessa in Brescia until 3 July, the day of departure for the Netherlands and the sessions on Thursday 30 June and Saturday 2 July at 11.00 and 13.00 will be open doors.
The match against the Netherlands is the last match of the first qualifying round for the FIBA World Cup 2023 which will be played in September next year between Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Italy, already in the second phase by virtue of the exclusion of Russia from the competition, is looking for two points to bring as a dowry on the way to the World Cup.
