Ex-tennis star Boris Becker will go to court against TV comedian Oliver Pocher on July 26.
The civil lawsuit will be heard at the Offenburg district court, as a judicial spokesman announced on Tuesday.
The two do not have to appear in person, which would also be difficult in the case of Beckers: he is currently in prison in Great Britain because he had concealed assets worth millions from his insolvency administrators.
A first court date in Offenburg in May had been postponed.
Among other things, Becker wants to ensure that Pocher is no longer allowed to show a TV report from the RTL program “Pocher – dangerously honest”.
In this, Pocher had duped the tennis player.
A call for donations was launched under the slogan “Make Boris rich again”.
According to the court, the article shows that Becker also received the money – but without knowing it: it was incorporated into the base of a supposed fashion prize that Becker was awarded.
Claim for damages in the five-digit range
Becker apparently had no suspicion that the "Fashion Brand Award 2020" price could be wrong and even thanked him via video link, excerpts of which were shown in Pocher's show.
"The plaintiff did not know that the prize was created and awarded to the plaintiff for the sole purpose of sending him the collected cash amount - hidden in the prize trophy," explained a court spokeswoman.
According to the spokeswoman, the case is about press law issues.
According to "Bild", shortly after the program broadcast in October 2020, Becker's lawyer had demanded a "punishable omission" that Pocher should delete the posts on the subject.
He threatens Pocher with a claim for damages in the five-digit range.
There are also further claims for insult, violation of the right to one's own image and damage to Becker's fashion label Boris Becker Style.
A judgment on July 26 is unlikely, said the spokeswoman.
