The number of migrants who died in an abandoned truck in San Antonio, Texas rises to 50.

CNN reports it.

Twelve people were injured, including four children.

Most of the victims came from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.

Three people were stopped by the police and placed in pre-trial detention although their involvement in the massacre is unclear.

A massacre resulting from desperation and probably from the scorching heat

that is falling on the southern state, where temperatures have been over 39 degrees for days.

The discovery was made by agents of the Homeland Security Investigation, an agency specializing in human trafficking cases.

Investigations are ongoing and the authorities are currently

in custody of three people

.

It is not clear whether among these there is the driver of the heavy vehicle, who fled shortly before the truck was discovered.

Texas Governor, Republican Greg Abbott, attacks President Joe Biden for the massacre.

"These deaths are his"

.

According to Abbott, "they are the result of his deadly policy of open borders and show the consequences of his refusal to implement the law," criticizes Abbott as he opens a new battlefront with the White House after guns and abortion.

The republican governor allied with Donald Trump, whose wall he wants to complete with Mexico, has long denounced the migrant emergency in the state: in the last month alone 44,000 people crossed the border illegally between Del Rio and Eagle Pass, the cities border closer to San Antonio, an important transit center for millions of migrants for years.

The San Antonio massacre is one of the worst in American history

.

In 2003 nineteen migrants were found dead in a truck in Texas: the driver of the vehicle had asked for 7,500 dollars per person for the 'passage' and had never turned on the air conditioning so that inside the truck the temperatures had exceeded 70 degrees.

In 2017 it was instead the turn of ten migrants, always found dead in Texas aboard a truck in a Walmart parking lot.
