The bodies of more than 40 people have been found in a truck on the outskirts of the American city of San Antonio.

The dead are likely migrants who entered the United States illegally.

This was reported by the US media, citing information from the investigators.

At least 12 other people were found alive and taken to nearby hospitals, it said.

Police are looking for the driver of the semi-trailer truck, who abandoned his vehicle in a remote area.

According to reports, it has been very hot in San Antonio, Texas, for the past few days.

It is still unclear why exactly the people died.

The Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, wrote on Twitter that at least 42 people died.

US President Joe Biden is responsible for this, Abbott wrote.

"They are the result of his deadly open borders policy."
