Borussia Dortmund removes a tribute to ex-soccer professional Christoph Metzelder at its stadium.
As the "Bild" newspaper reports, this was already being considered after Metzelder had been sentenced to a suspended sentence last year for possessing and passing on child pornography.
As the newspaper reports, citing BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer, the so-called Walk of Fame at the stadium is to be revised.
Metzelder's star should be removed.
Apparently because a special company was commissioned to do the work, it is now only being implemented 14 months after the judgment against Metzelder.
According to the report, the star should be removed by BVB's first home game in August at the latest.
The BVB Walk of Fame runs through Dortmund as a themed path with dozens of stars and commemorates important moments in the club's history.
The plaque for Metzelder bears the number 92 and is located at the Rote Erde stadium, next to the current Signal Iduna Park venue.
Metzelder is then honored together with his former teammate, the current BVB official Sebastian Kehl.
Both became vice world champions with the national team in 2002.
