Harper Collins bought the global rights to the book "Foreigners" by Lehi Lapid.
The Israel Institute of Hebrew Literature (formerly the Institute for the Translation of Hebrew Literature) this week signed an agreement for the sale of the global translation rights of the novel "Foreign" by Lehi Lapid with the American publishing house Harper Collins.
Under the agreement, "Foreignership" will be published in English in "Harper Via," a subsidiary of Harper Collins that publishes translated literature from around the world.
"Alienation" will be the first Israeli novel chosen to be published in this framework.
"Alienation", which was published by Keter about a year ago, is Lapid's third novel.
It received rave reviews and sold about 40,000 copies.
At the center of the book is an unusual connection between a young girl who ran away from home and an elderly and demented woman from Tel Aviv, who meets her and mistakenly thinks that she is her granddaughter.
Lihi Lapid has woven an exciting, suspenseful and touching and very Israeli plot, about families looking for correction, about distance and closeness, about an unrelenting past, about the warm connection between strangers who were not supposed to meet - and the unexpected places where love grows.
Lehi Lapid said: "I am very excited that my book, which is both personal but also so Israeli, will reach people around the world and tell our story here.
