Almost four weeks after the devastating train accident in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the condition of a seriously injured woman remains threatening.
This was announced by the Munich II public prosecutor when asked by SPIEGEL.
The condition of the 34-year-old is "still critical," said senior prosecutor Andrea Grape.
Grape did not provide any further information, referring to the woman's relatives.
At noon on June 3, a regional train from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Munich derailed just before the town of Farchant.
Four women and a 13-year-old died.
Almost 70 people were injured, some seriously.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
A few days after the incident, Soko "Zug" initiated proceedings against the initial suspicion of negligent homicide against three railway employees.
The investigations are ongoing, the public prosecutor announced on the status of the investigation.
And they get complex.
"We are working with independent experts to determine what caused the accident and whether a human being is criminally responsible," Grape said.
The chief prosecutor did not give any further details.
The route around the accident site has now been partially released.
"Investigators haven't released anything south of the crash site," Grape said.
Only then could repair work by Deutsche Bahn actually begin.
According to Bahn, hundreds of meters of rails have to be renewed and numerous sleepers and overhead lines including masts have to be replaced.
It is unclear when the route will be completely passable again.
