(ANSAMed) - BEIRUT, JUN 29 - The Syrian government embodied by the contested President Bashar al Assad, supported by Moscow, has today officially recognized the "independence and sovereignty" of the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in Donbass.
This was reported by the Syrian government agency Sana, which cites a source from the Damascus foreign ministry.
The statement reads that the Syrian presidency intends to establish relations with the two secessionist republics.
